My Elegant Heirloom Christmas Decor

For years now I've always gone down the traditional route of red & gold Christmas decor and whilst I am a traditional girl at heart, I fancied something a little different this year. Not drastically different - you won't catch me going all modern - but I've cut the red out of the Christmas tree, and it is mainly full of the gold baubles, apart from one new special one that gave me the inspiration for my table.

This special bauble is pink! And anyone who knows me knows that I love soft, dusky pinks. They feature heavily in my branding and throughout my social media, and I wear a lot of pink clothes and lippy! So why not add it to the Christmas decor!? So this year my table is pink & gold, want to take a look at all the details...?

My starting point for the table were these stunning flowers from Bloom & Wild that are by Nikki Tibbles at Wild at Heart. These dusky shades of pink mixed with the soft foliage & creams were just perfect for me, and had so many flowers I love in there - from the ranunculus through to the wax flower and eucalyptus. I knew that I had lots of vintage pieces from my prop hiring collection that I could use on the table that would complement the flowers perfectly, so I slowly added little elements to create an elegant, romantic and dreamy Christmas table.

I followed the softness from the flowers through and added a delicate, vintage lace tablecloth in an off-white that looks so gentle and romantic with the flowers. And I put the flowers in a vintage vase with gold detailing, as I knew I wanted gold to play a heavy part in the room, with no silver whatsoever - I really dislike to mix metals in my styling!

By using vintage, white dinner plates it kept the look clean & fresh allowing for colour to be added elsewhere. So I chose dusky pink, linen napkins simply folded onto the plate, which became the base for the mini wreaths that I made. These wreaths were very simply made by tying the two ends of a long sprig of rosemary together and then I added a silk ribbon bow in gold. I think they're really simple yet effective.

To continue the gold elements I chose to use my beautiful, engraved cutlery from Zara Home, as well as my vintage wine glasses with gold detail, which I filled with a light pink drink to add effect. I dotted a few gold covered pine cones across the table and finally added my favourite brass candlesticks with pale pink candles in. I'm so pleased with the overall effect and think it is so soft and dreamy, a nice alternative to a Christmas table and so much inspiration for a wedding table don't you think?

To add an extra element to the room I created a little Christmas bar on my vintage gold trolley, that is a new addition to my hiring collection. I chose two Christmas cocktails, both in vintage glasses and one with blueberries as a garnish and one using rosemary sprigs. I popped these onto a vintage brass tray with cherub detailing and the look came together with the help of mince pies, candles and cocktail accessories.

I chose to use two different types of eucalyptus on the fireplace mantle and intertwined these with my vintage brass candlesticks, this time with white candles to keep the look classic and elegant. With my huge gold vintage mirror, I just love how the mantlepiece looks.

I just love the overall finished look and it's probably my favourite ever Christmas tree to date! Some of the baubles are vintage and I also like to mix these with boxes of reasonably priced high street finds and a few special and delicate ones that I've picked up over the years.
