Hello lovelies, thanks for popping by. Last week you may have seen part 1 of the styled wedding shoot I designed and created back in the Summer that is in December's issue of Perfect Wedding magazine. I featured the tablescape I created, with the help of some other lovely wedding suppliers. If you didn't catch it, you can take a peek here. This week is the vintage dressing table that I styled up as a wedding dessert dresser, along with my unique take on a table plan, using vintage medicine bottles. All of the lovely vintage props and china that I have used are available to hire from me here.
Vintage Luxe Wedding Dessert Dresser
I adore using vintage furniture as a dessert table at a wedding. If you read my interview in Grazia Daily (read it here if you missed it), you will have seen that I have a dislike to a bog standard cake table. Who wants their beautiful cake, that you've probably spent months deciding on and spent a fair few pounds on, slapped on an ill-fitting silver cake stand on a creased white cloth. Not me, that's for sure! Instead think outside the box and display it lovingly. If you can add other desserts too and display them all together at various heights and on beautiful vintage serving dishes, then you are onto a winner and will create a lovely treat for the wedding guests too.
This beautiful, crisp white dressing table is a perfect, neutral starting point. I made the most of the drawers, by filling the bottom drawer with gorgeous blooms and popping vintage serviettes into one of the top drawers. I then chose sumptuous desserts and displayed them on vintage serving dishes that coordinated each other. I actually used a vintage cut-glass vase to display the cake - so much lovelier than a silver cake stand, don't you think!? And it allowed for it to stand tall to be the focal point. Details are very important to me, so I used vintage plates with matching vintage cake forks to finish the whole design.
There are so many pretty details to take in here, from the soft & romantic flowers to the brass candlesticks complementing the gold in the vintage china and the cake forks. All of the details in all of the desserts were designed to specifically work within the whole design of the dessert dresser. From the lace details on the cake to the gold calligraphy on the blush pink macarons. And all of them tasted amazing!
Vintage Luxe Wedding Table Plan
I so love vintage medicine bottles and have so many in my vintage prop hire collection, that I was really keen to use them for the table plan. I think it's really important to think outside the box for your wedding day, creating little points for your guests to talk about and to create long-lasting memories. To break away from the bog standard table plan is definitely a talking point for them, and so I popped a single stem in each medicine bottle and tied a pretty tag around the bottle with the guests' name and table number in gold calligraphy. The idea is for guests to take their bottle to lead them to their table, and they can even keep the bottle as the favour!
Don't you think these delicate blooms just look so pretty in the dainty vintage bottles? We kept the colours in-line with the whole look and I think they would look so beautiful all arranged on your wedding day as your table plan, or you could string them up on a wall at the venue.
So there you have it, my pretty and romantic dessert dresser and table plan, both individual and unique and using vintage in a fresh, modern and luxurious way. What do you think? Could you see any of these ideas popping up at your wedding? Don't you think the colours are just so soft & dreamy?
I would love to hear from you if you are getting married and will be using beautiful and elegant vintage props for your wedding day. Perhaps you would you like to discuss my styling services or hire some of vintage props, furniture or china. If so, drop me a line here and let's chat.
