Hello you lovely lot. This week I thought I'd share something a little different with you, and am showing you my love of London and how it inspires me within my work, plus just generally makes me very happy! I love visiting London and taking the time to explore, and here I share with you some of the reasons why...
I lived in London for about ten years and it's actually only since moving out to a nearby county that I love it as much as I now do. I see it differently now, and rather than rushing to get to and from work, I get to take my time, visit pretty places and plan some time to just wander around the streets soaking in the details that I would have never noticed on my busy commute.
My favourite thing to do in a day in London is to plan out a few hours to start with coffee in a lovely, independent coffee shop and then to do a bit of wandering around the pretty streets soaking it all in and snapping away. I then love to have lunch in an instagram-friendly restaurant - my favourites are Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, Chiswick Fire Station, Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden, Frenchie and I also love the Ham Yard Hotel and Dalloway Terrace. On the wish-list is Sketch and Sky Garden, plus lots of beautiful hotel restaurants.
I also get lots of inspiration for my wedding design and styling in London. From the coloured houses to nature, and from the flowers to the architecture. I love to soak it all in and sometimes I imagine a bride hanging out amongst the buildings or think how lovely a wedding would be at the place where I am.
As much as you could spend a fortune in London, you can easily get away with doing lots of things for free. From wandering the pretty streets of Primrose Hill, Chelsea and Notting Hill, snapping the pastel houses, to hanging out in the stunning parks, to visiting a gallery or museum. I also love to wander down the South Bank or around Hampstead or Chiswick, not all is grey and built up.
Some days I'll take my laptop along to wherever I'm going, or plan to work from a quiet but inspiring restaurant, hotel or working space, and it feels great to get out of the office. I feel much more inspired when stepping away from the same walls and lunch is often a lot nicer than what I would have had at home! I love to work on the design of my weddings in London.
Do you love London as much as me? Perhaps you enjoy seeing the pretty streets and houses too, and I would love to know if you have any other pretty restaurants that you like to visit that you can recommend?
I would also love to know where you get your inspiration from? I recently wrote a blog post that you can view here talking all about how to create a professional wedding moodboard. Part of this process is to seek inspiration, and it's a really important part. The design of your wedding day will be stronger and more concise when thoroughly thought through with inspiration.
If you are getting married and you need any help with any of these steps to creating a beautifully designed and elegantly styled wedding day, I'd love to hear from you. You can drop me a line here.
