Hello there! Lovely to have you back with me. This month I am going to be sharing some of my favourite English wedding venues with you, some beautiful photos of the venue itself and then I will go on to chat about how I would style a wedding at that property, providing take away tips for you. This week’s venue is beautiful Boconnoc in Cornwall. Read on to find out more about this stunning venue with some styling tips too…
Boconnoc and its Grounds
There are many reasons why I love Boconnoc but one of the main reasons as to why I believe it to be one of the most beautiful stately home wedding venues in England, is its grounds and backdrop. Whilst the building itself is stunning, it certainly wouldn’t be as beautiful without its setting. Boconnoc is smack bang in the middle of nowhere and you have to drive down the most beautiful driveway and entrance to even get near to the wedding venue itself.
A wedding weekend is becoming hugely popular, and this is what you get when you book Boconnoc for your wedding. It is an exclusive wedding venue, with an onsite church, many other ceremony options including outdoors and it also can accommodate up to 40 guests in its bedrooms and cottages. There are so many stunning reception rooms, all with a unique but tasteful wedding design, so weddings range from intimate gatherings to large celebrations.
The Inside of Boconnoc
My perfect property has huge ceilings, the tallest of windows, it has all of its period features still in tact and it is light and bright. So Boconnoc is definitely my perfect property! Boconnoc was tastefully and very delicately renovated over a 12-year period but originally dates back as far as Doomsday. If you were to have your wedding at Boconnoc, you have the choice of many ceremony options - from inside the house, to the courtyard and even to an old stone swimming pool area.
The reception can be held in an array of rooms, dependent on size and needs, and you would have full use of the entire house and its grounds for the weekend. The beauty with having such a stunning venue is it lends itself to elegant and paired-back wedding styling and decor. Nothing too over the top is needed and the house speaks for itself and by choosing the perfect items and suppliers to style it with, you will have the most beautiful wedding.
Styling at Boconnoc
My design and styling is best suited to period properties, stately homes and country mansion wedding venues. I adore these kinds of buildings and their features, and so I use soft tones, delicate details, elegant decor and beautiful fabrics that all blend perfectly with the character of the buildings. I believe the styling shouldn’t take away from the beauty of properties such as Boconnoc, which is why the tone is kept soft and gentle and it doesn’t take away from the character and features.
If you are getting married in a stately home wedding venue or period property, I would strongly recommend paying a lot of attention to the building and its features and compliment them rather than clashing against them. Choose a florist that can provide elegant, soft and loose flowers in gentle tones in beautiful glass vases, or brass urns if there are gold gilt details in the building. Choose glass candlesticks with tapered candles to keep the look elegant, and pick period, heirloom furniture. Create lots of layers with delicate fabric in soft tones and pick tableware that is light and elegant too.
I do adore styling period properties and giving advice on how to design a wedding that works perfectly in harmony with your stately home venue. I’d love to chat to you about how I can design your dream wedding with soft, elegant and romantic details, alongside my team of perfectly picked suppliers to fulfil my brief. Drop me a line here and let’s discuss your wedding day. And keep an eye out for next week’s post on another stunning venue with styling tips.
